Measuring Pins can be purpose built to customers specifications. As standard, pins are manufactured from hardened grade 17-4 PH stainless steel. Each pin consists of a head section, a measuring section and a tail section. Dimensions and options need to be specified for each section to determine the complete pin requirements. A pin may be a replacement for an existing measuring pin, in which case dimensions and requirements are clearly known, or a measuring pin may be required to replace a hinge or clevis pin or axel in a piece of equipment. The load relief section in the figure above prevents either a side plate or the centre plate bridging the measuring plane. PT can determine requirements for the load relief section from dimensions T1, T2 and T3 above. Tolerances are required if dimensions can not be arbitrary, for instance a head diameter may not be important and could be specified without tolerances for a nominal size and a shaft diameter could be tightly toleranced for rolling bearings. |
